Antivirus - I Hope You Have It! Just last week, I was talking to a co-worker about computers. He told me, very matter-of-factly, that he doesn’t use an anti-virus software on his computer. I told him in a lot less matter-of-factly way that he was really asking for problems. He said it’s not that necessary if you know what you’re doing and are very careful. Wow! I have to strongly disagree with him. There’s a large number of types of viruses out there just waiting for an opportunity to attack. Here’s just a small list of the most commonly heard of: * Trojan Horses * Worms * Spyware * Malware * Stealth Viruses The list goes on and on. Look some of these up and read about them. Pretty scary stuff! DON’T give them the opportunity to attack! PROTECT your computer and most important, your personal files and private information. If cost is a factor, there are some free anti-virus software suites available. However, the free version is usually limited, but will certainly do the job for the average user. If you’re downloading music and looking at unsavory sites, I’d recommend you skip the free list and get something with a full suite of protection. These kinds of sites are heavy with viruses!
